phishing campaign to target Ethereum Users

A new phishing campaign has been discovered, targeting users of the popular Ethereum blockchain explorer Etherscan. The campaign uses deceptive ads to trick users into connecting their cryptocurrency wallets to fraudulent websites, leading to the theft of their funds.

The phishing campaign was first noticed by a member of the crypto community named McBiblets. They found several ads on Etherscan that were part of the scam.

These ads redirect users to fake websites that steal their cryptocurrency. Further investigation by the Web3 anti-scam platform Scam Sniffer found that the malicious ads were not only on Etherscan but also on popular search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo, as well as a social media platform known as X.

According to Scam Sniffer, Etherscan shows ads from platforms like Coinzilla and Persona, which may not have enough security measures to prevent phishing attempts.

The scam works by convincing users to link their crypto wallets to these fake websites. Once linked, scammers can withdraw funds into their own wallets without needing permission.

Stay vigilant and protect your crypto assets by avoiding suspicious ads and websites.
